At an elevation of 1200m-4800m, rhododendron species are found in abundance and the best time for seeing the magnificent display of the rhododendrons blooming are during the months of April, May, June and July.

                            

There are different species of rhododendrons ranging from creeping shrub-lets to moderate sized trees and that makes up about 1200 species of rhododendrons worldwide.
About 700 species (mostly Sino-Himalayan species) grow in the temperate regions and they include the pink, red, and yellow rhododendrons.
Four species among the 46 species that has been recorded in Bhutan so far are found to be endemic.
