Greenviews Resort, Port Barton, Palawan, Philippines - Port Barton is a small friendly community on the picturesque Pagdanan Bay in North West Palawan. At the northern end of a long stretch of beach is the Greenviews Resort. This recently developed resort nestles against a backdrop of jungle and blends with its surroundings to offer an away from it all paradise. The tropical magic is backed up by a high standard of cleanliness maintained by the friendly staff and management. Unlike most resorts, the owners of Greenviews have a sincere love of wildlife and the environment and have taken positive steps to maintain and encourage the abundant wildlife.
Greenviews has 11 sea view balcony cottages set in grounds planted with tropical trees and shrubs, which have been chosen to attract wildlife into the garden and to be admired by the guests. Two of the cottages have their own cooking facilities. In addition there is a complex of four single rooms. All cottages are equipped with tiled showers and flush toilets and are carefully maintained by the friendly Greenviews staff.
There is a superb restaurant beautifully constructed, which allows the guests to relax and gaze on the abundant flowers and their visitors. These visitors include the stunning giant birdwing butterflies, numerous swallowtail butterflies and the enchanting sunbirds. The sunbirds hover like humming birds and normally have their nest just in front of the restaurant. If you are alert you will catch a glance of the flying lizards gliding from coconut tree to coconut tree. Many, many more insects, birds and animals can be seen in the grounds of Greenviews, the back of which is still overgrown waiting to be redeveloped. Eventually a wild walkway will be constructed through grounds carefully prepared for wildlife to breed undisturbed. Such is the variety of the wildlife at Greenviews that the keen naturalist need not travel far to be continually in awe of the natural riches on offer.
